License and Software Maintenance
Licenses include a maintDue date which determines when the maintenance is scheduled for renewal. When maintenance is allowed to lapse, the software will continue to function. However it cannot be upgraded to newer versions, nor is the online weather service available. Lapsed licenses may be restored to active status by paying back due maintenance.
The maintenance due date is the first day of the month the license was created (the maintenance month). If maintenance is not paid by the last day of the maintenance month, then the license is considered lapsed. At this time there is no loss of functionality. A full month's grace period is provided to resolve maintenance payment. After the grace period, the weather service is disabled and updates are not available.
Once maintenance is paid, you will need to update your license file.
Here is a specific example to illustrate the process:
Purchase date is Jan-2020
Maintenance is due in Jan-2021; warning banner appears indicating that the maintenance is about to expire.
Maintenance lapses on 1-Feb-2021; alert banner appears indicating the license maintenance has expired (Grace period is activated for the rest of the month)
Grace period ends on 1-Mar-2021; weather service is disabled. License will not work on future software updates.
