Why should I tag my points?

Tagging data points offers many advantages, and is an essential task when configuring FIN Framework. Tagging is the process of adding metadata associated with each data point so that the FIN software knows the location and all other relevant information about it. This enables FIN to automate many of the system engineering tasks that would otherwise need to be done manually, and is fundamental to the way our various wizards function. Tagging the data greatly speeds up the subsequent system configuration tasks and enabling you to complete projects faster. FIN uses the Project Haystack open tagging standard, which means that once tagged the data is available to other applications in a fully defined way which is open and abstracted form the system specifics. For more details about how tagging in FIN works view our videos such as "FIN5 DB Builder BACnet integration" and our documentation for articles such as "How to add tags by name". For more details about the pay-offs of using Haystack tagging read our blog series or our whitepaper.
