Snapshots Tree
Snapshots Tree
This tree allows users to manage local and remote snapshots. Remote snapshots are snapshots that were synced using Snapshot Sync setting to sync from a FIN Network project or dragged & dropped into the local project from a remote FIN Network project.
The “Backup control” or “Snapshot control” jobs are no longer needed. The user can configure the Snapshot Purge settings from here.

Automate snapshots to the cloud
In order to be able to upload to the cloud, the Cloud app needs to be registered to Edge2Cloud and status needs to be ‘Connected’.
Make sure to also enable the Snapshot Purge setting to make sure only a limited amount of snapshots are kept. Otherwise, a growing amount of snapshots will take up a lot of space!
Select App Launcher icon located on the upper left
Select Jobs tile under Advanced applications
Select Create New in the jobs menu
Once select, a Create New Job popup will appear.
Add a name for the job
Then add one of the following funcs depending if you would like to push rolling or permanent snapshots to the cloud.
For rolling, use this, but replace ‘demo’ with the project name:
finProjBackup(@p:demo).finEdge2CloudCreateRollingBackupSync()
For permanent, use this, but replace ‘demo’ with the project name:
finProjBackup(@p:demo).finEdge2CloudCreatePermanentBackupSync()
Rolling (recommended) - overwrites the eldest rolling backup.
Edge2Cloud Stores 3 rolling backups per device (FIN instance)
The oldest rolling backup is automated deleted when the fourth backup is created
Permanent - does not overwrite any permanent backups
Edge2Cloud stores five backups; if a sixth backup is created, an error will be thrown as permanent backups cannot be automatically overwritten
Then select the desired frequency to upload to the cloud.
Once done, apply and that’s it. It will now run based on the frequency and upload a snapshot to the cloud.
Edge2Cloud Backups Location
Once uploading a snapshot to the cloud, a user with the DeviceAdmin
role can view, download or delete backup information. The backups are available as a tab under a device's summary page in the Edge2Cloud portal.
Login to the organization in Edge2Cloud.
Navigate to the Devices tab on the left menu or under the organization view and find the device in which the project belongs to.
Once the device is found, click on it to get that device’s overview screen.
In the overview screen of that device, the user with the DeviceAdmin can find the “Backups” tab.
In the Backups tab is where the user can view, download, or delete the snapshots that were upload to the cloud.
